Starmount is the most prominent master-planned neighborhood in South Charlotte. Charlotte, North Carolina, is the seventeenth biggest city by population in the United States, while its metro area is the 22nd largest, comprised of sixteen counties. It is the third fastest growing city in the country as well. Out of fifty of the largest cities in North America, it sits as one of the top ten hubs for professional millennials. All these factors have made it a "gamma-minus" global city according to the Globalization and World Cities Research Network (GaWC), a think tank from the UK that studies how cities from around the world play a role in globalization. A “gamma” city, as defined by the GaWC, is any one of the fifty-nine cities on their list that connect smaller economic regions to the world economy. Charlotte has also poised itself as a significant player in the financial world, having the third most banking assets after San Francisco and New York City. Bank of America, the nation’s second-largest bank, has its corporate headquarters in Charlotte. In addition to that, five other Fortune 500 companies call Charlotte home, including Lowe’s, Duke Energy, steel producer Nucor, Sonic Automotive, and Sealed Air Corporation. Moreover, Charlotte is home to over forty state-of-the-art performance venues, featuring a vast array of mesmerizing productions ranging from Broadway to local theater. When you buy a house in one of Charlotte's remarkable neighborhoods or subdivisions you can easily enjoy all of these great benefits, as well as thrilling options for recreation, entertainment, dining, and shopping.

Like most neighborhoods in the Charlotte area, Starmount is a beautiful place to own real estate. With all of the large trees and foliage, you can almost forget that you are in one of America’s biggest cities. The primary builder in this area was Ervin Construction Company, building mostly Ranch-style homes.
