Midwood Homes for Sale

Midwood is mostly known by locals as “Plaza-Midwood” and was established as a suburban streetcar town of Charlotte in 1910. The roads in Midwood were laid out by the Oakland Land Company. Throughout the Great Depression, which started in 1929 and ended at some point in the late 1930s, Plaza-Midwood thrived as if there was no Great Depression. Nevertheless, as the 1950s rolled around, the area started to decline. In the mid to late 1970s, the Plaza Midwood Neighborhood Association was put in place as a way to protect and preserve the neighborhood. Starting in the 1990s, Plaza-Midwood has experienced a dramatic comeback, mostly thanks to heavy investment which has transformed the once vacant and dilapidated houses and buildings into stylish urban offices and dwellings. Revitalization of Plaza-Midwood has influenced surrounding neighborhoods to follow suit, with a renaissance of sorts occurring all throughout the inner-ring suburban area of “Old Charlotte.”

Out of all the reasons to choose Midwood for your next home purchase, the natural beauty of the area can be enjoyed at various natural spaces.
